Today both boys tested for their Second Section in kung fu. They passed, of course. According to the instructors, Caden had the best Udo roll of the group, and Carson exceeded their expectations for his age group. They are excited to be moving up.
Another exciting thing, on our way home tonight from our celebration dinner, we passed a sign that shocked us! It said, "Coming Soon, Sonic!!" That is one Texas thing that the boys and I have missed. We will soon have one a mere 8 minutes away!

Goodbye Elmo, Goodbye
The title says it all; Elmo is a goner! It has been an exciting, loud and messy week around here. We have LOVED having the bird, but we have decided this may not be the best bird for us. Here is a brief list of all Elmo has done this week...
- Screamed
- Pooped everywhere
- Set off the car alarm when he stole Joey's keys
- Got on the dining room table and wouldn't get off
- Got in Caden's bed at bedtime and wouldn't get down
- Pulled every marker and crayon out of their boxes and threw them across the room
- Screamed
- Danced
- Ate our multiplication cards
- Chewed up many pens and pencil (his favorite)
- Broke the spiral binding on our curriculum book
- Bit Corban's finger.
- Bit me
- Tore holes in Joey's t-shirt....while Joey was wearing it
- Screamed

Our New Addition
Many of you have been following Caden's bird adventures. Here is the culmination of months of classes and hard work. His name is Elmo, and he is a Sulfur-Crested Cockatoo.
We went and picked him up after church. We are fostering him through the Parrot Rehabilitation Society. This all started at the beginning of summer last year. Caden wanted a bird, so he began his own car washing business in our neighborhood. He employed some of our neighbors and worked for serveral weeks. After seeing how expensive birds were in the pet stores, we began to look for an alternative. The Rehab Society rescues birds and finds good homes for them. To adopt you must first take three classes and have a home inspection. We went to our fourth meeting yesterday, and that is where we first met Elmo. He took to Caden immediately, so we decided to give him a try. He rode on my shoulder in the truck on the way home until I handed Joey a taco. Apparently Elmo likes tacos. He jumped over to Joey's shoulder and helped himself to several bites!!
So far, Elmo won't leave the top of his cage here at the house. Everytime Caden leaves the room the bird says, "Elmo...Elmo....ELMO...ELMO...." and then he starts screaming. It's funny now, but.....well, I will let you know how it is going in a few days.

Big Day
Tomorrow is a big day for us around here. It will be Stonelake's first preview service. When we started StoneWater, along with Jeremy and Misti, we had several other families that helped carry the load. I don't think I realized ALL of the planning and organizing that went in to it at the time. Now though.....I realize it fully. We have been working our tails off! It is fun to see it all coming together. I can't wait until tomorrow and, of course, I will let you know what happens. Pray for people to show up first of all, and for lives to be changed.
