Where to start....
Carson has a cat. Months ago before moving to this house, we decided that Carson needed a pet. The only pets he has ever had were fish, but for some reason his always died. He even had a turtle once, but Caden's lived and Carson's died. Caden is our animal lover and has had many different animals, but not Carson. So, of all the possible pets in the world, he chose a cat. We tried a couple of different cat rescue organizations, but they denied us. Apparently California cats are too wimpy to live outside. Next we went to the El Cajon Animal Shelter where they will gladly give you an animal! We got a wonderfully sweet, huge, solid black cat that is now named Midnight.

Here is Midnight hiding under our bed. This cat has issues. He hides all day. He has discovered the little door that leads up under our stairs in his room (aka the downstairs bathroom). He stays there hidden all day. We have to drag him out. He doesn't eat, drink,...nothing. Then, at 9:00 at night, he decides to be social. He meows, walks around the house, jumps up in your lap, purrs. Of couse then we have to put him in his room so that we can sleep. He will meow off and on during the night, and then around 6:30 he really begins the wake up call. Thankfully meowing is not quite as annoying as a screaming bird! We would like for Midnight to be an outside cat, but for now he is an "under the stairs cat".
Here is a picture of Carson giving his presentation at class today. The boys go to class every Tuesday. Each week they have to give a presentation. We have covered topics like worm poop (that was todays), origins and function of snot, gooseberries, birds.....all very 'boy' topics.

And here is Caden at class today during art.

Both boys tested for their second section in Kung Fu last weekend. They both passed with flying colors and are now official Second Sections!

We took the boys to the zoo one morning last week. Corban was old enough this time to really enjoy seeing the animals. You know how zoo animals always turn their backs to the people..I guess they get tired of looking at us all day. Well, Corban noticed; he would say, "There's another bobo." We saw lots of bobos!
Today we went to the desert. Here in Lakeside, people's favorite thing to do is to go to the desert, so we thought we should check it out. We jumped in the car around 4:00, and just as it was getting dark, we arrived at the desert's edge. It was a long and beautiful drive through the mountains. Here are a couple of pics from my cell phone.

It was late and we were hungry, so we got back in the car to drive back toward civilization and find some food. As soon as Carson got in the car he said, "THAT WAS A TOTAL RIPOFF!!" That boy would rather be at home than go anywhere, especially the desert!
One last thing. Stonelake Church will have its second preview this coming Sunday. Please be in prayer for us this week as we make final preparations, and for the community as they receive a mailer in their mail box or on their door. Here is a look at what church has been like the last three weeks at our house.
