Weekend Whirlwind

This was a wonderful and busy weekend for Joey and I. Three dates in one weekend! How, you ask? A wonderful couple from our church asked Joey to marry them several months ago, and the wedding was this weekend. Here is Joey baptizing the groom at our Grand Opening for Stonelake Church two weeks ago. Joey and I have grown to love John and his beautiful new wife Paula. They have been with us at Stonelake since our very first meeting. Friday night was the rehearsal dinner. After rehearsal, we were treated to a wonderful dinner at a quaint Italian restaurant in Point Loma. That counted as date number one(even though we were with about 20 other people)!

Saturday morning we joined a 2 mile fun run as a family and then our church had a booth at the festival that followed. Corban and I walked about a third of the race. When we were around halfway done, Corban looked at me and said, "I don't like to race." Joey, Caden and Carson went the entire two miles with a few walking breaks.
So, after the festival we hurried home to clean up and head to the wedding. It took place at a resort on Harbor Island here in San Diego. It was the most beautiful and elegant wedding I have ever been to. Joey did his part wonderfully, and after the ceremony was over, he was able to relax and have some fun. The reception had a dinner and dancing, and I even got the dj to play a two-step for us before the night was over. I asked the dj to play a slow country song, and he said I would have to help him out because he didn't know any country music. It hit me in that moment that I was living in California. I suggested some George Strait or Garth Brooks. The dj came up with Boot Scootin' Boogie as we were walking out the door. We set our things down and had our dance - the first one in many years! That was date number 2.
The bride and groom gave us tickets to the Old Globe Theatre to see a musical on Sunday afternoon. After church this morning, we went downtown to Balboa Park and enjoyed "Working". And then we went to a wonderful place called Extraordinary Desserts for dessert and coffee. Joey's Zebra Brownie and bowl of ice cream is in the top picture. I had the Coconut Leveice Danish. YUM! Date 3!!

Birthday Boy - Corban

Today was Corban's birthday. The little guy is now 3! His day started off with some presents. He was trying to share them with everyone and wanted all of us to have one to open. He also said thank you after opening each one. It was so sweet. Enjoy some pictures of his day.

Birthday Boy - Carson

Today our Carson turned 7. Around here, if it's your birthday - you get the day your way. So today Carson woke up early, thanks to his early-rising brother Caden who was designated as the alarm clock. He chose blueberry muffins for his breakfast. We then went to the airport to pick up Nana (Joey's mom) and then headed to Chuck E Cheese. After a couple of hours, we came home and opened presesnts, played, ate cake and ice cream, and played some more. Now we are about to go shopping and out to eat with Nana to end up our day. Enjoy some birthday pictures of my handsome young man! There is even a picture of me in there for a change.

and some pictures of the cake. I always enjoy making the boys cakes every year. This one was a challenge, but was a lot of fun. I was up until 2:00 this morning! Here is the final product. It is a bakugan. The little one beside it is what I copied to make the cake.

Update

A quick update in pictures. We went hiking at a new place last weekend. This picture doesn't do the beautiful day justice. Everyone had fun except Corban. His little shoes kept slipping and he fell down over and over. I ended up carrying him back to the car while everyone else kept going.

These are not my sons, these are Sumo Wrestlers!

The boys went to the batting cages for the first time this week. After playing Wii sports, they decided they wanted to hit some real balls.

Coach Daddy

and I leave you with an out of focus sleeping two year old who will be three in a few day.
