This morning Joey and Nate (our first summer intern to arrive) left the house early and went surfing. A couple of hours later he calls to say he stepped on something in the ocean, it hurts bad, and to boil some water. He soon came hobbling in the door with a bloody foot and in a lot of pain. After riding a wave, Joey was walking back out into the ocean. He felt something sharp hit his foot, and then felt something swimming all around his legs. He jumped on his board to continue swimming out, but the pain became too much. It soon became unbearable. We ended up at the Urgent Care with confirmation of a Sting Ray, an exam, x-ray, tetnus shot, and antibiotics. In case you ever need to know this, hot water neautralizes the venom and decreases the pain. As long as Joey's foot was in the water, he felt ok. But as soon as it was taken out the pain was at a maximum. He is fine tonight. His foot is sore, but he is able to walk on it. Thanks to those of you who prayed for Joey today. I'm sure he will be back on the surf board before long!
